How Reliable are Polls?
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” (Orwell, 1984)
Defendant #1, the present Republican front-runner, loves to crow about how great and magnificent his poll numbers are. Clearly, truth can be found in numbers, right?
- Two impeachments
- Ninety-one indictments
- At least one conviction — so far!
- Hundreds of thousands dead Americans by mismanagement of a global pandemic.
- Dwindling rally attendance.
With all this evidence, polls still place Donny Diaperstain head and shoulders above the rest of the Republican candidates, which prompts this question:
Are the other red-tie candidates more repugnant than the defendant, or might the polls be manipulated?
Polls show that Chris Christie, the only other Republican candidate willing to even mention the defendant’s dirty laundry, is polling at just above sub-terranean. Should we infer that the average Republican voter finds honesty and integrity repulsive?
